My wife & I have been besotted by the Lake District since childhood. Last summer we rented a cottage 5 miles from Wasdale Head, one of the most beautiful, evocative valleys in England. It was wonderful, wandering the hills, resting by mountain streams, watching kites & even an occasional red squirrel, before taking our ease (& an occasional libation!) at the local hostelry each evening. Best place in the world!
